One more important message - Do not answer to people pretending to be from xnxx team or a member of the staff. 2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

    Best regards,

    StanleyOG.

Allow me to sincerely thank you for this. It was actually more useful information in this one post that I usually see in a week around here.

Thank you for your kind, civil, factual, and very understandable explanation.

No problem, you're more than welcome. :) You asked sensible questions and I replied in kind. :)

Although you do talk a load of bollocks and flaming in a lot of your other posts, :p and so do many on here as well. :excited:

But it costs nothing to provide factual information when somebody wants to know something and I can see from your reply that it was worth my time and that you appreciated it.

Now go and annoy somebody :excited: I'm going to bed :)

Lordy I miss this place, NOT!

What some folks seen to be confusing is: a.) a person that makes occasional, meaningful contributions to the forum and b.) a person who negates any such meaningful contributions with paranoidal rants.

And the biggest fact I took away from this was IP addresses really don't mean much if anything when it comes to identifying someone or their socks. Which I was under the impression they did. That kind of just leaves the door wide open for previously banned members like Deidre79 to reappear.

I sat here reading this thread just for the amusement of it BUT as far as the mods are concerned to you, THEY DO NOT OWE YOU ANYTHING, They do not have to tell you who a mod is, they do not have to tell you why someone was banned, they do not have to tell you why they did not ban you for doing anything. You should be banned.:excited:

Your right if your unhappy about the answers you get you have a choice, either LEAVE or say, OK I will not do what they say, and before you say it Putting someones information (take it as any information) on a post will get you banned. If you go with that you cannot go wrong.

BUT knowing how you are you will not be happy until they leave you alone to do what you want, well they have rules if you do not like them leave. :-s

I know I would have banned you just for this shit on this thread, you want to brow beat them (as you do with anyone that does not agree with you) so they do not bother you and you can do what you want, I doubt that will happen as there are rules and I know you hate rules so as stated either shut the fuck up already or leave.

I can bet the reason you do not leave is that every other site has banned you.

One more thing I am not that other person so stop the shit you fucken moron.

Quite correct on all points. IP addresses mean virtually nothing really, even less to people trying to trace them without resorting to illegal means.
An IP address will only reveal the connection point used not the location or identity of the person.

In severe cases court orders can be obtained to reveal the full identity from the ISP but even that is not 100% as this case taking place right now will show you.
    *not_secure_link*www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-19887765

Admin on forums have the ability to block an IP, but switch of my router and I have a different IP. Also if they block the one IP I was using they're also blocking anyone else who uses that assigned IP in future. Could number thousands.
Block the whole range of IP numbers and they'll be blocking tens (maybe hundreds) of thousands trying to access that forum.
Even if Admin blocked the whole range I'd just use a proxy, there's thousands of them available, and I'd be back. :excited:

An Admin/Mod IP check will not reveal if it is the same person or a sock, nor will it reveal if it is not the same person or not a sock. All it will reveal is than another user has also been assigned that IP in the past or currently.

Sorry, I meant to also say that this might only apply to UK IPs, no idea how other countries ISP operate.

Best bet is to click on a free IP checker, like this one.
    *not_secure_link*www.ip-adress.com/ip_tracer/

Note down your IP numbers, close browser, switch of router for 10 seconds, switch back on and click it again to see if it is different.

I bet that checker doesn't come up with your actual location either. ;)

Now this is fascinating to me. I've heard so much about tracking IPs that I assumed they could identify a specific user but of course I never imagined how that would work I just assumed it did.

But then I have a question for you. Some people in the US have threatened President Obama's life on the internet and ended up being arrested for it. How does the Secret Service find out who those people are?

Now this was true in my case. I was posting in the middle of the night from an oilfield location and someone on another forum said he tracked my IP address and I was located in Indiana. But that was because I was using a wireless connection and modem from my phone company.

A court order to get the ISP to reveal the full identity of the user. How they know who the ISP is is beyond me.

Me to especially after what I'm now learning about IP addresses. But I now they have tracked them down.

Also there have been many drug cases I've seen where participants were busted by what they exchanged in emails. Which I thought was connected to their IP addresses but now suspect they were actually tracked by their email accounts not their IP addresses.

But I also read once that the DEA and other law enforcement had screening software in place for two or three years that would pick out trigger words and phrases before people learned the government could actually screen their emails.

And that is even more true when it comes to text messages which the user can delete but never go away.

Certain IP ranges are only allocated to certain ISPs.

Example (made up of course) IP range 201:43:678:000 to 201:43:678:999 allocated to Talk Talk.
IP range 97:456:132:000 to 97:456:132:999 allocated to Orange.

All ISPs keep a database of which IP is allocated to which bill payer on a certain time and date. Also the amount of bandwidth you've used with uploads/downloads and where that upload/download has gone to/come from.

See above for how law enforcement agencies have tracked people down easily.

Emails also contain all the relevant IP/ISP details plus a lot lot more information about your identity. ;)

Even just your email address will also more often than not give you plenty of information of where else that person has been on line, plenty of people use the same email address all over the internet.

This about the only thing I've recognized so far. The forum once came under attack from some hackers in Pakistan.

I spouted off to Nophest just give me their addresses and I would go after them and he responded with something like this: 97:456:132:000.

But at least they could identify that the hackers originated from Pakistan.

So the ISP's can identify a person posting on the internet but unless someone can actually force the ISP to reveal what IP address was doing what when the IP address alone is all but worthless.

Have I got that right so far?

I did and thanks and sorry if I'm causing a lot of time and trouble for you explaining this to the technologically impaired.

I've sure seen that. But lately least I haven't seen anyone busted on what they said in emails. However, just recently I saw close to 50 people go down on a drug bust using nothing more than their text messages as evidence of their involvement in a drug ring.

That stunned me especially since most of those people deleted those messages as soon as they read them. Only to find out two years later the police had the transcripts of everyone of those messages, where they were sent from and when.

I try not to use my email anywhere else but then when I think about it almost everything I sign up for on the internet has to have a valid email account.

The large majority of internet users use their personal email address for everything. Put your own email address into google for example, you might be surprised. ;)
I only use my personal email address for personal friends/family/business etc.
Anything else I just use a disposable address. :)

Answered your other points in red above.
